I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. Harper Lee (1926-  ), To Kill a Mockingbird, 1960

SAY
MEAN
MATTER

Says- The quote is saying that having a gun or weapon doesn't make you courageous being brave makes courages.

Mean- This quote means that people with guns are not courageous.

Matter- This quote matters because without courage in you you're not going to have much respect from other people.

1.  The film is a modern interpretation of the text, which was written in the 1600's. What did you understand or find confusing? What connections can you make to your history class?

The thing I understand that in the beginning of the movie the it looked like the people were in war with other people and a lot of people where dying and getting injured.

In my history class we are talking about WWII about how all the world is at war.
